Meet the 18 AND EAST team!

Name: Hannah Webster

Role at 18 AND EAST:
I am the Marketing Manager – I look after all of 18 AND EAST’s content and branding - The website, our blog, photoshoots etc. I look after all of our social media and work with our PR agency to make sure we are getting great coverage in all the magazines! I’m all about the brand baby.

What are your favourite pieces from the collection:
I love the sheer pintuck blouse from the collection on our website – perfect layering piece for summer and I LOVE the sheer palazzo pants which are available in New Look, Peacocks and Clothing at Tesco. I’m also all about the prints.

What / where are your favourite places to go in East London?
I’m an East Londoner born and bred so I love it all! Broadway Market on a Saturday is a great place to people watch – there’s usually a great mix of models, “trendy wendys” and good ole Eastenders that have been working on the Market for donkeys years. I love the Commercial Tavern and The Scolt Head pubs, Spitalfields Market and to eat, Poppys Fish and Chips by Brick Lane. I love The Blitz Parties that are held every so often under some arches in Shoreditch. Everyone dresses up in 1940s dress and dances to a big band. Oh and Bleach London in Dalston to get your Dip Dye on!

What's on your ipod?
I actually have 2 ipods (Geek!) At the moment I’m listening to The National, The Black Keys, Doris Day, The Faces and Crosby Stills and Nash.

Who's your style icon?
Alison Mossheart, Land girls from the 1940s, Drew Barrymore, Stevie Nicks and Erin Wasson.

Name: Natasha Frances Wood

Role at 18 AND EAST:
I am the Junior Designer. I work on the 18 AND EAST collections on trend prediction with street shots, blogs, markets and especially vintage!!!!

What are your favourite pieces from the collection?
My favourite piece from the collection is the family portrait jersey tee. I will be wearing this all the time. It’s one of those pieces that everyone will react to and is so easy to wear – I’ll be wearing mine with denim shorts, laddered tights  a chunky knit. DONE!!!

What / where are your favourite places to go in East London ?
I love East London – I went to uni here and now I work in East London. My favourite market is Spitalfields antique markets on a Thursday -  it is so inspiring. I am loving the fact the Urban Outfitters is now on Commercial Road and I love the 123 store on Bethnal Green Road with their fill a bag vintage sales and recycled goods! Favourite restaurant is actually Noodle King. I know its cheap and cheerful. Hhhhhhmmmm favourite bar there are too many and too many nights out…. ; )
What's on your ipod?
 Fleetwood Mac, Black keys, Adele

Who's your style icon / s?
That really cool girl that walks past me at Old Street station everyday!!!

Catherine Lister
Role at 18 AND EAST:

What are your favourite pieces from the collection?
The Fluted Midi skirt in grey is absolutely adorable and the Dip Hem Twisted tie dress in the beautiful lola print from the range - I need these in my life!

What / where are your favourite places to go in East London?
I'm a complete Spitalfields market junkie. The food halls for a lunch time treat - you have to try it! The Big Chill bar is always nice for a drink or two.
What's on your ipod?  Noah and the Whale, Bob Marley and John Mayer are pretty much on repeat right now.

Who's your style icon / s?
Edie Sedgwick and  Debbie Harry.

Name: Claire Acton

Role at 18 AND EAST:
I am the Design Assistant. I work on the 18 AND EAST collection. I am on my student placement year and I LOVE IT!

What are your favourite pieces from the collection
My favourite pieces is from the range we did for Clothing at Tesco - the coral Strap Back Dress. It’s feminine and quirky, key essential dress for going out! )

What / where are your favourite places to go in East London?
The Book Club is always a good bar for cocktails and music. Apple Tree Boutique by Spitalfield’s Market is a good fashion shop to find something you won’t find anywhere else.

What's on your ipod?
The Vaccines!! Loving a bit of Smith Westerns as well!

Who's your style icon?
Marc Bolan or Blondie :)

Name: Monal Chande
Role at 18 AND EAST: Senior Designer

What are your favourite pieces from the collection?:
Love the Belted Jersey Dress, the print is fresh and new and the shape accentuates the waist. Also I can't wait to get my hands on the knot print vest so I can tuck it into a cute mini skater skirt.

What / where are your favourite places to go in East London? I love shopping in the cool randomly placed boutiques off Brick Lane finished off with a refreshing and fruity cocktail at McQueen's.  As for favourite places to eat the lamb chops at Tayyabs are tasty tasty!!
What's on your ipod? A vast array of music that I've nicked off my brothers itunes as he's a DJ!..I am partial to a bit of funky/soulful house, old school RnB and reggae!!
Who's your style icon / s? I don't have style icon in particular. I'm always on the look out for new celeb looks and street style from blogs, magazines etc.

Role at 18 AND EAST: Design Director

What are your favourite pieces from the collection:
I have 2 must-haves: firstly the Back Strap Dress - a vintage inspired silhouette created in an original 50's floral print. From the front it's a simple dress, but from the back the peek-a-boo straps drape down beautifully. It's understatedly sexy. Secondly I'd have to choose the Mix Print Maxi dress, perfect for working this summer's hippy boho chic trend.

What / where are your favourite places to go in East London? To drink:  Lounge Bohemia - a hidden gem which takes you back to vintage 1960's in Eastern Europe with cocktail masterpieces, perfect for a late night evening rendezvous. To shop: Paper Dress - a great  vintage boutique for clothing and accessories from 1900-80's. I spend many of my lunch breaks going through the rails!
What's on your ipod? Everything and anything! This week whilst on an inspiration trip for 18 AND East in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Delhi Ive been shuffling between Royksopp - Melody A.M., The Field - From Here We Go to Sublime and the classics from Fleetwood Mac . Perfect for on-the-go.
 Who's your style icon / s?
Currently I've been searching web archives for images of Grace Kelly - a classic alluring beauty. Chic, elegant and timeless. She epitomised style rather than fashion.  However I probably get the most ideas just from people-watching locally in East London; the girls here hold their own personal sense of style. I think every city and town has that bohemian and eclectic area which I find really inspiring.
